Open Fire

Cosy Open Fire

The open fire at 1860 is a favourite with our guests. We cut our own wood from fallen trees on local farms and have the fire set and ready for you to light. Plan a night in over the cooler months with some local produce, Milawa cheese and a bottle of Beechworth wine.

Cycling from 1860

1860 is right at the start of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. BYO bike or hire one in town and take a gentle pedal to Pennyweight Winery, just out of town. All their wines are biodynamic. One the way home have a coffee from one of the many great baristas in Beechworth or enjoy a pizza at Bridge Road Brewers. A perfect day out.

Beechworth in Winter

We love it here in Winter. A day trip to Falls Creek, Mt Hotham or Mt Buffalo for some cold alpine air and fun in the snow is a great adventure. If you want to relax, our favourite thing to do is walk the Beechworth Gorge, about 5km, stop in at the Cellar Door Wine Store for a glass of local wine or great coffee and then head back to 1860 for an afternoon bath and rest in front of the open fire. In the evening, head out to many of the great restaurants in town – Provenance, pizza at the Bridge Rd Brewery or the Ox & Hound. Then home to the electric blanket. Sound good?
